I will be using a NEW system to better manage all my customers, updates and billing. Everything will be better managed, smooth and in the long run cheaper for you!  With the New Year and my business growing (thanks to you all) I had to come up with a better, easier and more efficient system.  And it is ready!!!!

It is a subscription based service where billing will be handled automatically, upfront and recurring (in many cases), and where you can pay with the plan of your choice:

• month to month,
• 3 months,
• 6 months or
• up to a full year.

And the best news....

• Flat rate fee!
• Gets updated with new promos or catalogs or new products ASAP (as soon as they become available to me, I'm on the East Coast (NY).  No more waiting!

This update only (Feb 2010) will take the normal 2-3 days to update everyone, but then all other updates will happen automatically and will NOT require me to go into your blogs anymore (unless you unsubscribe in the future). 

This month is a HUGE update on my part because I will be replacing all the Promos, Catalogs, Products, and Featured Projects with new code, specifically designed for my subscribers.  It's a lot of new code and work, so again, it will take 2-3 days. Please be patient...it will be well worth it!!!

Legal Terms

If you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and subscribe to this service, you agree

• that if you cancel this maintenance program, you allow me access to your blog to remove all the subscription-based HTML code relating to Promotions, Catalogs, Featured Projects and Product Line. At that time I will replace it with the standard HTML Code published on Michelle Laycock's site (www.laycockdesigns.com, free promotional buttons for SU Demonstrators). From that point you are responsible for maintaining your own blog. Of course, you may re-subscribe at any time!
• that you will not share the subscription-based HTML code with fellow demonstrators or post in any online groups or forums; and will not copy, sell, distribute or publish without prior authorization.

Typepad: I've Changed My Design and Lost My Sidebars

Many of my customers have contacted me lately about "losing their sidebars" which meant that the widgets they had there disappeared when they applied a new design to their blog.

I'm not sure why this happens and I'm sure Typepad will address it in the future. But for not, know that you have NOT lost them. Your typelists are still there, you just have to add them again.

To add typelists to the sidebar:

• Login.
• Go to Design.
• Then click Content. You will now see the layout of your blog.
• At the top, in the left box click "Your Typelists".
• In the middle, click on each of them and on the right click "Add This Module".
• Then drag and drop them where you would like in the sidebar(s).
• Save changes.

Quick Instructions

To add in Blogger, go to Layout, Page Elements and Add a Gadget. Choose HTML/JavaScript, paste in large text box, and save.

To add in Typepad, go to Library then Typelists, Create a New Typelist and name it "Recommended Services" and click Create New Typelist.  In the large Notes box, paste the HTML.  Save. Then click Publish. Check off your blog(s) to add it to and Save.

To add in WordPress, from the Dashboard, under Appearance, choose Widgets. Add a Text Widget to any sidebar and edit. Copy and paste the HTML code and Save.

Blogs By Heather is Getting a Makeover!!!

I am in the process of updating my blog with a whole new business/professional look!  I will miss the Victorian roses and swirls, but I thought it was time for a change.  I am SO happy with this new design by Michelle Laycock, www.laycockdesigns.com.  As you may know Michelle designs the majority of blog banners and graphics for my customers. Dylana Gregory Has a New Fun Look To Her Blog

Although Michelle Laycock designs most of my blog setups, occasionally I take on a project and wanted to use my new Photoshop version (previously using Photoshop 6.0 so its a "little" different - LOL). Dylana Gregory said she wanted a fun new blog look and gave me a list of things she liked: tigger, monkeys, frogs, polka dots, purple, and paw prints.  So I searched the web for clipart/graphics and used Photoshop and layers to merge and compile the new banner look.  Click here to view her blog.

Other New Findings in the New Typepad

Things have changed around a little using the New Typepad version.  In addition to this post, http://www.blogsbyheather.com/2009/10/changing-to-the-new-typepad.html, which highlights some original changes, some things have continued to change and have been added.

• When you login now, you are at the Dashboard and to the right you see your default blog highlighted and then different options like Design, Settings, Compose, instead of seeing all of your blogs and then a drop down next to each of them (with the same options).  Saving a step on the default blog, you can just go right to the area you want to work with.
  
  
• Also, there is a new Quick Post area too, and little check boxes to publish to your "other accounts" quickly as well (such as Facebook or Twitter). You will also see "Share This Post" on the right side when creating new posts (the standard way), and have your "other accounts" listed, again like Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious, MySpace, etc. 
• Other Accounts.  You can "manage accounts" right from a compose post screen, or you can go to Account, then Other Accounts and set them up there.  Again, this allows you to share your posts with your other social networking accounts.
  
  
• There is also an updated Post Footer area that will have the social networking links in the footer of your posts. Go to Design, then Content, then Edit Post Footer and check off what options you'd like.
  
  
• To upload a new Profile Image, click on your image on the top of the screen, to the left of the word Account. There you will see your current profile image and the Browse button to upload another.
  
   
• There is also a new look to the Design area.  It can be confusing but it is meant to allow you to keep your current design while working on a new design (and not have to apply it).  So, you will see your current design selected, and then options like Theme Builder, Layout, Content and CSS (if you have a Pro account). On the left side you also see these options (blue buttons).  So it operates the same way, just has a new look to get used to.  Then at the bottom you see all your saved designs. The purpose of this new design is to allow you to work on a new look without having it "applied", so you can work on your new look while keeping your current design in place.
  
  
• To set a Front Page (like a Wecome Page) then it is under Settings, then Posts, then scroll down under Front Page.
• To password protect a blog, go to Settings, then Basic and there is a check box at the bottom.

Adding the "Follow Me" widget in Typepad

Many people have asked about this. Blogger has a Followers gadget that many people love and Typepad users wanted. Now you can have it to!!!!

• From your Dashboard, for the desired blog, go to Design.
• Then click on Content.
• Then from the middle, top box, choose Follow Me.
• On the right click Add This Module (button).
• It will then be added to the top left sidebar the majority of the time if using a three column layout.
• Now you can drag and drop it where you would like in the layout.
• Click Save.

And you're done.
