Since forming my Blogs By Heather blog, many customers have asked for some Photoshop or Photoshop Elements lessons or lessons on HTML or CSS, and more.
I'm listening and delivering! I will soon be starting my "What you need to know" series of seminars focused on blogging. Coming soon, 2011 will be here before you know it!
A little about me and my expertise:
I have a Master's in Computer Information Systems, started my own business, Premier Computer Solutions, in 1995, which was focused on Database Development, VBA programming, web development and computer training. I have worked at NYU for over 8 years as a Database Programmer, Web Developer, and Applications Trainer. I taught individuals regularly on MS Office, VBA Programming, and the Destop Publishing/Graphic Design applications like Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark. I want to use this experience and bring my training and computer expertise to you via the web!
A little about this exciting new venture:
- These courses are being designed specifically for the Blogger in mind, whether you use Typepad, Blogger or WordPress.
- They are not full-blown courses on a particular subject, such as Photoshop, but an emphesis on certain functions and concepts:
- Example, the Photoshop for Bloggers course. It is not about learning all aspects of Photoshop, but more specific to what you need to know in regards to getting your images edited (such as adding filters, borders, color and level adjustments or adding a watermark) before uploading to your blog. In addition, how to create images for your blog and more importantly how to then install them on your blog or how to change them later on (such as animated buttons, post signatures, banners, post headers and footers, sidebar headers and more).
My "What you need to know" seminars are not like any other type of courses you'll find online or in-house training institutions as they combine applications and are focused around blogging and what a blogger needs to know.
Many more details will be coming soon, however
- they will be delivered in one or two hour modules (TBD).
- will be recorded so you can listen at your leisure!
- once per week.
- for many weeks (I will try to keep them to 4-5 wks).
- for all bloggers (Blogger, Typepad, and WordPress).
These webinars are different from Stamping Business Boot Camps that you may be familiar with, haven taken, or currently part of.
- They are NOT about how to run or build a stamping business.
- They are NOT just for Stampin' Up! demonstrators (although all are welcome!)...anyone in any profession are welcome to take these webinars.
- They ARE how-to courses focused around blogging and blog-related concepts, provide step-by-step instruction, and based on my personal and professional experience in the computer field (going on 20 years).
I am excited to bring these new webinars to you and trying best to serve as many of you as possible! I know you are from all over the world and I want to try and accomodate as many time zones as possible. Your input is welcomed and much appreciated.

Thank you for your feedback!

I would like Wednesday at 10 pm EST as my first choice and then 9 pm on Wednesday as My second choice.
All the topics seem great -I'm going to sign up for all of them so what ever order you choose is good for me

All the classes sound good to me. I've blogged a while, but there is so much to learn. Evenings work best for me - after 8 pm central. Thanks!

all of your topics are worthwhile to watch. I use both blogger and wordpress and need more help w/ wordpress. I have yet to get photo shop, but hopefully I can soon. Thanks!
Since I live in Hawaii anytime is best since I'll have to view it delayed, but are the webinars going to be on for a long period of time or is it only for 1 week? So we can go back for reference?

I haven't been blogging for very long. I'm using Blogspot right now. I needed something free at the moment. I've been doing fairly well with the free buttons that you post for SU Demo's & Corel Draw to do my pictures. I need learn how to do my own blog headers & designs, HTMLs, How to set up links to diff places in my posts. How to sell things & have people pay via my blog. It's probably all the simple stuff. I'm sure that I need most of it. I don't use Typepad or wordpress. Not sure what difference those would make.
The best time slot for me would be Wed. evening or Sunday evening.
Thanks so much! You've been very helpful.

The last 3 webinars on the list would work for me and probably Weds night times are best.

I read the comments with interest. My computer skills are limited and would take each course offered. I awake at 6:00 am , so a late course (after9:30) would not work for me. Friday and Thursday are good, anytime after 6:00 pm. Thank you Heather, I know you're a busy mom
warmly,
Katie

All of your topics are of interest to me. I would like to learn how to insert a new header, made in MDS (thanks to Patty B). The Tuesday times would be best for me. I like the idea of being able to listen to them anytime.

I think this sounds awesome! I got PS for Christmas last year and I am having a lot of trouble with it, so I would find that most helpful. Also, Wed. nights are perfect for me.
thanks

Hi Everyone, Heather is having internet issues and cannot access her website to respond to your questions. It is supposed to be fixed today, so fingers crossed!!! Anyway, she asked me to let you all know that yes, the sessions would be recorded, to listen to whenever convenient! Can you all say "YAY!"? Keep your comments comin"

Courses sound very interesting. Content that appeals to me is Basic HTML, Constant Contact Newsletter Design Template and Basic Typepad. Times that would work would be either Wednesday nights, Saturday mornings, or Sunday nights. Looking forward to see what you will plan.

Sounds great! I am interested in everything but the Typepad. Wednesday night is best for me. Either time. I am looking forward to your webinars. Thanks for taking the time to do these for us. Mary

All these topics would be great webinars and very helpful. Even though I use Blogger, I would like to know a little more about Typepad and Wordpress. Also photo editing to get the best picture for upload to a blog is great also. Evening hours are the best for me on any day. Thanks Heather.

These sound terrific. I am a typepad user and would be interested in those focusing on typepad. Also Constant Contact and using Photoshop with typepad.
Looking forward to your typepad book too!!!!
These are the best times for me.
Either slot on Tuesday, Wed. 9 pm or possibly Sun. at 8 pm. If they are 2 hour seminars later than 9 is really pushing it for me. Even 9 is.
Thanks. Really looking forward to these.

I use Blogger and PSE so anything about those two will be of interest to me. I use MailChimp for emailing my class flyers, so would like a session on setting up a newsletter template in that. Times will be a problem for me also, probably Wed evening would work, but it would be great to have access to a recording! Thanks Heather for all your help!
Posted by: Kathy | October 29, 2010 at 04:15 AM
Hi Heather. Great news!
I am interested in Photoshop Elements (I use PSE for Mac, so I would have some translating to do),html basics, CSS basics (I don't know what this is, so probably need it), Beginning Typepad, Newsletter Template Design, Facebook and Twitter Integration, All About Blogging. That is almost everything you listed!
Unfortunately the time slots you listed are a problem. Sunday 8 PM could work for me. Other times conflict with my other job and other commitments. Will you be recording them to view at other times? that would really help. Sage

I am primarily interested in beginning blogging (I need to buy your book!!!)
Tuesdays mid-day or Wednesdays at 10 pm work best for me
